Welcome back to the Nexus Newsletter, Applied Intuition Defense’s newsletter covering the latest in national security, autonomy, and software-defined warfare.
We have some big news today: Applied Intuition has acquired EpiSci! 🚀 Let’s dive into what this move means for our company and the future of defense👇
As our readers know, we’ve already established ourselves in the ground domain. Now, we’re expanding to aerial, maritime, and space — positioning Applied Intuition Defense as the premier autonomy software developer for use cases across all domains.
Why EpiSci? EpiSci’s technologies perfectly complement ours. You may be familiar with the company’s work to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) fighter pilot. Notably, EpiSci helped take Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall on an F-16 fighter jet controlled by AI last year. We’re taking EpiSci’s successes in the aerial, maritime, and space domains and combining them with our technologies.
Why now? This is a pivotal moment not only for our company, but the broader defense ecosystem. The United States is in the midst of a historic modernization effort, both in defense and commercial. We’re seeing strong signals from both sectors for delivering advanced AI and autonomy now.
That’s where dual-use companies like ours come in. We can help secure warfighters by filling critical, pressing gaps faced by the Department of Defense with cost-effective, proven technologies marked by rapid innovation and scalability.
Together with EpiSci’s technologies, we’re opening up new product lines and enhancing our existing products. Under the acquisition, EpiSci will now operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Applied Intuition. We’re also excited to welcome the entire EpiSci team, including co-founder and CEO Bo Ryu and co-founder Tamal Bose, to our company!
We’ll dig deeper into this acquisition in our upcoming Nexus Talks webinar! Register for our Feb. 24 webinar, “Applied Intuition and EpiSci: Multidomain Autonomy for Competitive Advantage,” below.

That’s all for today’s newsletter. See you next time!
